In the course of analyzing survey-mode data acquired between 1991 and 1996 by the USGS, NIMA, and university groups in southern California, MIT analysts noted an apparent bias in the east component of position estimated using data from Ashtech codeless receivers. They tested the hypothesis of a timing problem by estimating, from doubly differenced phase data, clock offsets between an Ashtech Z-12 and six codeless receivers situated within 50 km at China Lake, California, during two days in 1994.
