External camera calibration

External camera calibrations are specific to the instruments used; the following calibration parameters were provided to UNAVCO by Optech specifically for the UNAVCO Optech Ilris 3D scanner with a Nikon D300 camera and a Nikon 20mm lens. These parameters serve only as an external camera calibration example.

Response to Comment #1 has been added to the article entry, above. Response to Comment #2: Unfortunately we do not have the accuracy specifications or graphic as requested. Our practical experience, which may be different from calibration tests or other more traditional (i.e. engineering) TLS applications, indicates accuracies on the order of one to several centimeters on average. Sub-cm may be possible under ideal conditions for change detection measurements. We also see multiple cm or (worst case) decimeter accuracy results from projects with difficult survey geometries, undersampled targets, vegetated targets, datasets with alignment issues, etc. It is our experience that accuracy (as opposed to precision) depends on numerous variables associated with the nature of the target and the method of data collection. If you are seeking calibrated performance specifications, I would suggest contacting Optech directly for this type of information. Please see links below. what is the accuracy of ilris 3D laser scnner at 10 meter for x,y,z separately. also could you send me position accuracy graphic of ilris 3D. thank you.

what is the exterior parameters between camera mounted on the Ilris 3D and laser scanner. do you give me one example estimated parameters between external camera and Ilris 3D laser scanner. Thank you Regards
